Summary: The entry way and reception was fine, except for the overwhelming scented odor of some sort of air freshener. In the Room, carpet smelled like dirty socks, bath room is dilapidated, Smoke alarm continued to peep, upon close inspection its over 24 years old. They are to be replaced every 10 years. Not 25. Also the wrong battery was used. More than likely the source of the constant peeping. TV did not function, remote control did not work and the battery cover was missing. Restaurant is under construction, yet the website does not say so. It claims its open. In room fridge smelled as well, unsure the last time it was cleaned. Overall, its disgusting. Would not recommend this stay to anyone.

Summary: Room was clean, and hotel was nice for the stay we had planned. Staff was friendly, it was a good choice and I’d stay again for sure.

Summary: Ok for the price. Rooms have been updated somewhat, but hallways are pretty disgusting. Right next to the highway and constant noise.

Summary: Me and my husband booked a jet tub room with a balcony (which turned out to be something we couldn’t even sit on and enjoy the view because it was tight) the room was not clean and had ants so we was moved to another room that was not clean and showed evidence of the previous guest so we was moved again. Every room was dusty with bugs, bed was hard and very uncomfortable. It was loud with guest in the hallway and our room was located next to the outdoor pool so it was loud. We booked two nights and only stayed one night, I just couldn’t take it anymore. I would never stay at another Wingate again

Summary: First time staying in Detroit, I read a lot of reviews for this hotel and none of them mentioned this specific mildew smell the entire 3rd floor had. We opened our room for the first time and my friend said "it smells like the inside of a cat's mouth." There wasn't any ventilation in the bathroom which would have helped a lot. The beds were nice, I enjoyed the balcony, and the staff were nice, but the cigarette butts by the elevator and overwhelming mildew smell outweigh that in my opinion.

Summary: Stayed in the jetted tub room. We didn't realize until check in there was no balcony which sucked. Room was clean but a little older looking. Our TV didn't work however since he didn't get back til late, we didn't bother.

Summary: It was a good stay other than being charged a $50 dollar deposit that didnt even post till the day of check out an is supposedly to be returned but I'm not unsure if it will. I left the room in clean condition without violating any rules. There is no reason to keep the deposit.
